Big Data & Digitization Technologies, Strategic Agents of the Future Energy Industry

Synopsis:

The Opportunities for new and emerging technologies to drive massive economic and business growth over the next decade are manifold, and as such concrete and viable mechanisms for preparing the global labour market to better leverage these opportunities across industries and regions is critical.
As the new, Fourth Industrial Revolution unfolds, companies are seeking to harness new and emerging technologies to reach higher levels of efficiency of production and consumption, expand into new markets, and compete on new products for a global consumer base, composed increasingly of digital natives. To this end, it is necessary for students and young professionals, to engage these emerging trends and the opportunities they provide for an effective buy in, as the future of the global energy industry.
As engineers in the making, this topic of discussion would help the students:
  1. Familiarize themselves with the role the various technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Data Analysis, Digitalization etc)  play in the energy industry.
  2. b. Understand the new sets of skills they require to ensure they remain relevant in the industry.
  3. c. Challenge themselves to come up with innovative applications of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence to solve local energy problems in Nigeria.
