Building the Energy Workforce of Tomorrow: Insights on Innovation, Technology, and Talent Development

The theme focuses on the critical steps necessary to prepare the energy sector for future challenges and opportunities. As the industry undergoes rapid transformation driven by technological advancements, shifting energy demands, and the global push for sustainability, developing a skilled and adaptable workforce becomes paramount.

The theme explores how innovation and technology are reshaping the energy landscape, necessitating new skill sets and knowledge areas. It emphasizes the importance of integrating cutting-edge technologies, such as digitalization, automation, and AI, into educational and training programs to equip students and young professionals with the tools they need to thrive in a dynamic environment.
 
Furthermore, the theme highlights strategies for talent development, including fostering a culture of continuous learning, promoting diversity and inclusion, and aligning educational curricula with industry needs. It also emphasizes the role of partnerships between academia, industry, and government in cultivating a pipeline of talent ready to drive the energy sector's evolution.
 
Overall, this theme provides a roadmap for building a resilient, innovative, and future-ready energy workforce that can navigate the complexities of the global energy transition while ensuring sustainable and reliable energy supply.

SPE Nigeria Council invites undergraduate and post-graduate (MSc and PhD) students attending higher institutions of learning affiliated with SPE chapters within the Nigeria Council of SPE to submit their abstracts for the 2025 SPE Africa Annual Students Congress. 

The contest will be held within the framework of the 2025 SPE Africa Annual Students Congress (SAASC).  Awards will be given for the top three papers in each division at the Nigerian Annual International Conference & Exhibition (NAICE 2025). Papers must be relevant to the theme of the symposium.

Significant papers written by the contestant during the school session or final year project may serve as a source or basis. Students need to be sponsored by a professor of their institution, who will guide and aid in the development of the paper. Only single-author papers are eligible. The paper must not have been accepted for publication in an SPE peer-reviewed journal before or at the time of submission for the contest nor should it have been presented at a previous SPE Nigeria Council Student Paper Contest.
