Maybe, Vrajendra,
But supplemented by:
- H2 or derivatives in some hard to electrify sectors; and possibly
power generation in some places, supported by CCS/CCUS in certain suitable
geological and geographic settings.
- Direct heat geothermal for industrial and residential heating, as well
as baseload power generation in suitable geological settings and markets.
I'd venture to guess that such policies imply an increase in the number of
long term R&D challenges and opportunities for the geo-energy industry.
- Presumably including redeployment of oil to higher value-added usage
by advancing and expanding the petrochemical sector.
- Would that include the potential to displace steel and cement with
composites and/or lower-cost carbon fibre, for example?
Exciting times for the R&D Community, eh?
