Dr. Ir. Anas M. Hassan is an Associate Professor of Petroleum Engineering and Energy Management at Heriot-Watt University (HWU), Aktobe Campus, Kazakhstan, and serves as Lead Subsurface Engineer at Advantek Waste Management Services, USA. He holds a BSc and MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), The Netherlands, and a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia, in collaboration with TU Delft. Dr. Hassan’s research spans both fundamental and applied domains, including Reservoir Engineering (RE), Improved and Enhanced Oil Recovery (IOR/EOR), Water Management, Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), and Transport Phenomena in Porous Media. His work leverages advanced technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Internet of Things (IoT), Exergy Return on Exergy Invested (ERoEI), Circular Economy (CE) principles, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance recovery efficiency, optimize resource use, and reduce environmental impact. Dr. Hassan is a registered professional engineer with the Royal Dutch Society of Engineers (KIVI) and an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). His excellence in education and research has been recognized through multiple awards.
