    Everyone,

I have worked on alkali/surfactant/polymer (ASP) EOR. While it shows promising results in laboratory, its cost causes it unattractive to field application. Anyone here has experience on field alkali/surfactant/polymer (ASP) EOR or other chemical EOR method? What do you think the future of ASP EOR or general Chemical EOR? Will it prosper and contribute increasingly to the world wide oil production? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Often, a key limitation on the economics of ASP EOR is the attenuation of relatively expensive chemicals - some of the surfactants and most of the polymers - due to absorption on reservoir rock surfaces.  Some authorities on ASP EOR have been greatly improving the economics by including relatively inexpensive sacrificial agents like sodium carbonate to reduce the adsorption of surfactants and polymers on reservoir rock.  That approach seems to be very attractive.
