The current commodity, M&A and capital markets are necessitating shifts in upstream company business plans to a model that does not require access to external capital and instead must focus on corporate profitability and returning capital to investors. With equity capital markets effectively shut for E&P companies to finance growth or acquisitions, the industry is turning to consolidation to more efficiently manage larger asset bases and realize economies of scale. Private equity-backed business models are having to adapt as well to a landscape with a less certain exit path that may require longer hold periods, larger balance sheets, operational excellence and a path to generating a return for investors through cash flow rather than through a strategic sale or IPO.
Mr. Seline joined NGP in 2013 and serves as Vice President. He concentrates on NGP’s efforts in sourcing investments, transaction analysis, and execution as well as the monitoring of active portfolios.
Prior to joining NGP, Mr. Seline was an investment banking Analyst with Barclays’ Natural Resources Group in Houston, where he focused on financing and merger and acquisition transactions in the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Seline received a B.B.A. in Finance and a B.A. in Economics in 2011 from The University of Texas at Austin.
