Bio:
Michael Kaplan Joined SPE in 1978 while studying Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M, where he served as Vice President of the Student Chapter. He promptly began his career working in Production with Gulf Oil Company in Mississippi and Louisiana. After the Gulf Oil and Chevron merger, Michael worked as a Field Production Engineer and as a Special Projects Engineer in Midland. He served as VP of Engineering for Thor Resources and lead an unconventional exploration drilling program. Michael later joined DPC&A (now OGRE Partners) supporting the sales group as a technical adviser. As a Project Manager with “The REACH Group,” Michael coached rig crews and drilling departments on improving drilling performance and eventually lead DWOPs (drill well on paper) for multiple client companies from Louisiana to Trinidad. Michael currently serves on the SPEI Senior Professionals Sub-Committee and has been a member for over 40 years. Abstract:Evaluating core procedures and processes and identifying opportunities for optimization. Test and implement potential improvement and measure their value. Modifying your approach to seeing what is possible by eliminating paradigms and visualize reaching your goals by alternative means and methodologies while maintaining a safe work environment.
