Abstract: As field developments mature, operators increasingly depend on high-resolution, continuous surveillance to reduce subsurface uncertainty and enhance decision quality. Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS) has progressed from a niche diagnostic method into a strategic enabler for fracture evaluation, completions monitoring, and production surveillance. This session bridges theoretical foundations with practical field applications and interpretation workflows. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of DFOS measurement physics, fiber borehole deployment strategies, and completion integration, along with key applications in hydraulic fracture diagnostics, production and injection surveillance. The discussion will also address current technology maturity, data interpretation challenges, and operational limitations, culminating in an integrated perspective on how DFOS-driven diagnostics support informed reservoir and production decision-making.
