SPE Central Ukraine Technical Meeting | April 30, 2025, Kyiv 🔷

The Radisson Blu Hotel in Kyiv hosted a regular meeting of the SPE Central Ukraine Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. The event traditionally brought together oil and gas industry professionals, scientists, and company representatives to share experiences, technical solutions, and establish professional dialogue.

This event focused on production optimization and modern technologies for influencing the bottomhole zone, including real-world case studies of implementing coiled tubing and multistage physical and chemical stimulation systems.

The following experts presented their achievements:

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Ukraine Section successfully hosted another industry meeting at the Ukrainian Catholic University. It was a productive day filled with insightful discussions, technical presentations, and valuable networking among industry professionals.

Let’s Talk English has been developed as an SPE Aberdeen / SPE Central Ukraine Collaborative approach to supporting our engineers in doing just that – speaking English.

SPE Central Ukraine are working hard to support their members to create a much more sustainable future for Oil & Gas and Renewables for Ukraine’s future, whatever that may hold! The biggest issue is that many engineers do not speak ‘English’ or speak little English’. Many are learning online in their own time and really need an outlet to converse in a safe place.

We have an outline ‘framework’ on how this pilot scheme can be facilitated and this is our “Call Out” to our members to step forward and support the scheme.

The aim will be a One2One Teams Call every 2/3 weeks over a 6-month period. One participant from SPE Aberdeen with one participant from SPE Central Ukraine. It’s a ‘Get To Know You’ opportunity with discussions in general English and the opportunity to ‘Let’s Talk English’ discussing engineering topics, teamed with someone of similar disciplines.

We have a plan for 12 energy engineers with related disciplines; however firstly we need volunteers who can dedicate the time and are committed to supporting someone as they develop their knowledge of the energy sector in the spoken English Language.

On December 26, SPE held a meeting with Bogdan Kukura Chief Engineer of Ukrnafta

The event was attended by 40 people in person and 35 online, including heads of service companies and representatives of upstream oil and gas companies in Ukraine.

Heads of service companies expressed their appreciation for the informative technical presentation, as it provided them with a clear understanding of the list of technologies and equipment that their companies will need in the future.

SPE will also share possible innovative solutions to some of the company's technological challenges.
