    Dear colleagues,

I'm delighted to share that nominations are now open for select SPE Sustainable Development Technical Section (SDTS) Board positions.  You can volunteer directly or nominate a colleague.  We've built a high-performing, engaged, and passionate team, so here's your chance to join us and be part of the change you want to see in the world.

The Nomination Deadline is Oct. 31st, 2024.

To volunteer yourself or nominate one of your peers, please submit a summary that includes name, affiliation, volunteer leadership experience, LinkedIn profile link or SPE CV if available, and any other details you feel are relevant.

Send Nominations to josh.etkind@shell.com. As SDTS Chair Emeritus, I chair the nominating committee.

I'd like to thank our nomination committee for their support: Maria Giulia De Donno, Jeannie Chung, Claus Otto, and Dan Burt.

The following SDTS Board roles are open for nomination by the Oct. 31st, 2024 deadline:

    1. Program Chair - Gaia Study Group & Master Classes
      • Coordinates regular meetings to plan programming and discuss topics of interest to shape them into learning events such as Masterclasses, Gaia Talks (SPE Live), Webinars, or in-person events. All other Program Chairs and Gaia Theme Leads are expected to serve on the Gaia Study Group and attend meetings regularly. They will consider how to advance knowledge and agency in their theme and make recommendations.
    2. Theme Leader - Natural Capital & Regeneration
    3. Theme Leader - Measuring what Matters
    4. Theme Leader - Energy System Transformation
      • One Theme Leader per focus theme as defined in the Gaia Learning and Programming Framework, will support and guide the Program Chairs in creating top-quality content across all available channels by sourcing thought-leader speakers and authors at the forefront of their theme, and assisting in crafting the scope of the sessions. They will consider how to advance knowledge and agency in their theme and make recommendations through their participation in the Gaia Study Group, the key program planning vehicle for the technical section.
    5. Regional Liaison - Africa
      • One per SPE Region, or one per cluster of regions as decided by the Technical Section Board and the Regional Directors of the SPE International Board, represent SDTS across all SPE sections around the globe to disseminate centrally developed programming and/or develop locally or regionally produced Gaia programming and other activities. The Liaisons will coordinate activities with the SPE Regional Director, with SPE Geographic Section Chairpersons and Program Chairs, and if in place, with Section Gaia Liaisons. The purpose will be to elevate quality of section and regional programming in alignment with SDTS program priority areas, specified to be relevant for the region. Additionally, the Regional Gaia Liaison can nominate top quality hybrid or virtual events to be shared with all SDTS members to broaden attendance.
    6. Program Vice Chair - Publications
      • Actively support Program Chair - Publications to coordinate relations with key SPE publications such as JPT, The Way Ahead and HSE Now and shall write or source the writing of content that reinforces programming through Gaia Talks, Masterclasses, Summits and other events.
    7. Chair Elect
      • Attends all meetings of the section and the section Board of Directors. After the Chairperson Elect's one year term, he/she shall serve an additional year as Chairperson, and a subsequent year as Chair Emeritus.
    8. Program Chair - Gaia Events
      • Acts as a liaison between the SDTS Board and all Gaia events such as the Gaia Summit, Gaia enabled programming at ATCE, IPTC etc, as well as regional or local section programming. As appropriate they can also take on the role of agreeing and sourcing speakers, securing sponsorships, coordinating engaging sessions, coordinating publicity and attracting the right audience as appropriate to the individual Event's project management structure.

Please step forward and nominate yourself or a colleague for one or more of the above roles.

    With sincere thanks and appreciation,
