Abstract:
The term "natural capital" refers to the stock of ecosystem natural resources that provide benefits to humans, such as clean air and water, biodiversity, and ecosystem services like pollination and storm resilience. Natural capital encompasses a wide range of resources and systems, including forests, wetlands, oceans, rivers, soils, and biodiversity.  Energy firms have technical expertise in fields such as hydrology, geology, and ecology, which can be applied to the development of natural capital. This webinar reviews the use of artificial intelligence, geospatial software, and digital manufacturing techniques to quantify the economic value of natural systems with specific examples of nature-based techniques informed by digital technologies in the energy industry.
