Hi everyone - My name is Roland Moreau and I am currently serving as co-chair of this Technical Section with Johana Dunlop of Schlumberger. I am pleased to note that we have over 300 SPE members signed up, so now its time to start leveraging the Technical Section and promoting a global dialogue on this very important and strategic topic. Due to the recent downturn and accompanying organization shifts that have occurred over the past several months, we have been slow to get all of the initiatives planned for this Technical Section underway. With that said, however, there is no need to wait on the Technical Section Steering Committee to start a global dialogue via SPE Connect on issues, concerns, and observations related to this topic. Therefore, I encourage you to take full advantage of SPE Connect to network with your fellow practitioners around the world and share experiences on topics such as local content, business planning, community/stakeholder engagement, etc. For example, if you are facing a question on how best to approach a local content challenge or are looking for specific training related to this, please leverage the tool that is part of your SPE membership to connect with others.
In future posts, either Johana or I will give updates on plans related to training courses planned or being considered, development of skill descriptions for SPE's competency management tool, or webinars that are being planned. SPE is also very interested in receiving content related to this topic to include in PetroWiki.
So, in summary, there are lots of opportunities for the 300+ members of this Technical Section to start discussing issues. The success of this Technical Section is incumbent on everyone's contributions and involvement. Thanks. Roland
