Abdelsalam is an HSE Practitioner with 20 years of experience in the O&G industry. He holds a master’s degree in Safety & Risk Management.

He is Chair of the SPE Safety Technical Section, a member of the IOGP Human Performance Sub Committee, and co-author of the Energy Workforce & Technology Council Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) Playbook.

Based in Houston, Abdelsalam’s current role is Senior HSE Programs & Risk Strategy Leader for Baker Hughes, focused on embedding HOP principles into daily operations across the company’s global footprint.

Dr. Josué E. Maia França is a Professor, Technician, Author and Engineer with extensive experience in the O&G industry.

He holds a Postdoc in Human Factors from Linnaeus University, a PhD in Civil Engineering from UFF, and a Master’s in Environmental Engineering from UFRJ. Additionally, he is post-graduated in Neurosciences and Sociology from PUC-RS, and Ergonomics from UFRJ.

Dr. França is currently a Safety Engineer and Human Factors Consultant at Petrobras, a Fellow Professor at several Brazilian and Swedish universities, Treasurer of the Resilience Engineering Association and Vice-President of ABRISCO.

Sarah Acton has a BS degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and a MA in Human Factors Engineering.

Ms. Acton has nearly 20 years of experience working with various aspects of human behavior and performance in safety critical environments. She began her career working collision-warning systems in automobiles and has also worked in Rail and Military, with the last eight years specializing in Oil and Gas.

She currently serves as the Human Factors Lead for Baker Hughes, a GE Company. As part of the Performance Excellence team, she provides support to people and projects to strengthen human performance.

Caroline Kannwischer graduated as a drilling engineer and passionate health and safety professional with diverse experience across the energy landscape and maritime operations.

She began her career in the Well Operations group at ENGIE E&P in Germany and later worked for Schlumberger as a Wireline Field Engineer onshore and offshore across Europe, followed by an HSE Advisor role with Aquaterra Energy in the United Kingdom.

She subsequently joined Boskalis, becoming part of the international dredging SHE Q pool and supporting projects and dredging fleet activities. Caroline also contributes to the profession through IOSH volunteering, having served as Assistant Secretary with the IOSH East Anglia Branch and as Vice Chair of the IOSH Offshore Group.

In 2020, she received the Society of Petroleum Engineers Regional Health Safety Environment Award for Europe North Sea and has participated in related award judging activities.

Outside work, she is an experienced sailor and took part in the Clipper 2023 to 2024 Round the World Yacht Race leg while fundraising for UNICEF and the Rotary Foundation.
