Letter from Chairperson:

I am Reza Khastoo, chairperson of the SPE Geothermal Technical Section. We’re witnessing a period of unprecedented interest in geothermal energy as the only renewable, baseload source of power. To fully realise the potential of geothermal energy, the oil & gas industry’s involvement is essential. Only with the technology, know-how, skills and experience of the oil & gas industry and its professionals will we see geothermal energy become a solution to the energy and climate problem. As such, GTTS seeks to form new partnerships with SPE regional and technical sections and the wider geothermal community, to expand, deepen and intensify the geothermal debate, giving its members the opportunity to highlight their skills and make a telling contribution. GTTS has taken steps to amplify its engagement globally through the appointment of regional membership chairs. I’m delighted that we now have highly motivated individuals in these positions representing the following regions: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Indian Sub-Continent, Middle East, North America and Latin America. Join us to take geothermal energy everywhere.
