Flow Assurance Technical Section

Dear SPE members,

On behalf of one gas producing company in Ukraine, we are looking for leak detection system (volumetric/mass/gassiness or other methods can be applied) that enable us to make balance of multiphase media (gas, water, oil, condensate) during its transportation and also quickly react to possible spills or unauthorized interventions on land and subsurface (1-10 m).

Dear Yuri,

In my opinion, I would consider as most important factors the economic feasibility under a low temperature weather conditions and social conflicts impairments because in these environments, the most sophisticated system may not be the most practical.

So my suggestion would be to go for a combination of pressure and flow imbalance monitoring systems. Besides you can couple it with SCADA infrastructure that may be already in place plus some additional sensors and material balance algorithms. Of course let us not forget about safety and regulation compliances.
