  • 1.  Emulsion Breaker Vs Demulsifier

Emulsion challenge could sometimes be more troublesome than normal. I have
experienced cases of very stable emulsion where series of tried demulsifier
formulations have failed to yield the required result and I was told to
employ emulsion breaker. My question is how is emulsion breaker different
from demulsifier and in what case would it yield a greater degree of
    efficiency in emulsion treatment?

Emulsion Breaker and demulsifier are the same, both words are used for the chemical class that are used to break oil water emulsion.  The nature of these chemicals is based on the formal used to develop for any specific application and can differ, depending on the type of oil that is to be treated.

There are other ways of managing emulsions that might work too. Increasing the temperature often helps and controlling the water cut in the production flow to destabilise an emulsion can work.
