Meeting kick-off:
· October 9th 2023 meeting notes accepted
Topics:
· ATCE event update
o Dan/Michael gave an update on the Oct 15th WITS dinner event held in conjunction with the ATCE Conference. Was well attended (~ 50 attendees) and had an excellent conversation on Well Integrity related topics.
· Casing Deformation WG (Dan)
o Working on SPE Forum: Reducing the Impact of Casing Deformations in Multi-fractured Horizontal Wells (4-7 Dec 2023, Galveston, TX, USA)
– Over 60 attendees applied to date – good x-section of attendees - ~ 30 operators and from different disciplines
- Please share/advertise event with audience who might be interested.
o Working on SPE paper for HFTC 2024 special session. Abstract on Casing Deformation has been submitted.
o Planning to have a Special Session at HFTC 2024
· WI Blogs
o Casing Deformation – Dan suggested that this be postponed.
o “Post-WITS dinner” blog (Michael) – October/November- Dan and Michael gave an update on this event and that it was well attended with excellent discussions.
o WITS forum supporting challenges across industry through exchange of ideas – November – need a volunteer – Jovan and Michael gave updates on WITS supporting challenges across industry through exchange of ideas. Jovan updated shared folder and Michael gave update as Global Liaisons Meeting coming up on November 14th.
o Start throwing ideas for December and next year’s blogs
· Scheduled WITS Webinars:
o Should start planning for 2024. Goal is to have 1 per quarter.
o Casing Deformation – keep in mind for later in 2024.
o Abandoned and Legacy Wells Webinar was announced 5 months ago, still in progress – check with Matteo.
· 2023 and 2024 Goals Status Review
o Jovan has updated Shared Folder with comments.
o Michael gave update as Global Liaison on increasing role of Well Integrity and interest from petroleum engineering schools.
· Board Role Updates:
o Education/Training – Manish (not present). Kenny McAllister stated that he had met Manish in Abu Dhabi recently and confirmed the SPE Workshop, in Amsterdam, 2024
o Industry Liaison – Michael Edwards – Gave an update on ATCE Event – well attended and engaged audience. Also stated has upcoming meeting on Nov 14th and will give update on next meeting. Will seek how to help Regional SPE offices and what regions are looking for from the WITS membership. Also, in response to comments from attendees and Greg Hickey, will try to submit SPE papers on Well Integrity and engage with Universities on perhaps having a graduate level or introduction to well Integrity courses in Universities.
o Membership Report – Hans presented slides on Membership details – regionally and worldwide and is available for WITS members to review.
o Online Community Report – Lydia – no update
o Program planning – Jovan gave update.
o PetroWiki Update – Talib stated that he will start working on this and will give an update next month.
· Other Events – Planned
· SPE Workshop: The Future of Well Integrity 5-6 March 2024, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Kenny McAllister gave an update and stated that the agenda and speakers have been selected.
