  • 1.  Volunteer external SME's for an Unusual HAZOP

    Posted 09-05-2024 04:26 PM

    Good morning.

This is going to be an unusual request but I am hoping the SPE O&G community can assist.

The user has wells, reservoirs and surface production system. Underground storage gas wells, utility company, US land operations.
These wells go back 60 years in the original O&G depleted field designs.

Given that the user is outside the normal O&G environment and is guided only by local regulations, not all the lessons learnt from O&G has been transmitted and utilized within their operations.

This HAZOP is the 1st of its kind for UGS operations within the area and local O&G experience is few and far between.

We are looking for volunteer external SME's (production, completions, workover, facilities, integrity, corrosion/erosion)  that can provide input during a production system and well design HAZOP. We expect the event to be a 2 day event in late October. Most of the external SME's can participate remotely.

This is the 1st time, a utility company has reached out to SPE as a global community, and we are hoping that that vast SPE membership and experience can assist the user in peer reviewing risk and operability issues related to their operations.

If you are interested, please feel free to contact me at Stargard_1@hotmail.com

    Thanks

    Note:
We had considered going to consulting companies to assist in performing this task but given the expansive planetwide O&G experience and knowledge within the SPE organization, we decided SPE membership would be better suited for a practical, balanced and economical viewpoint.

US land utility operations is vastly different from normal O&G operations.
Hopefully, this would be the 1st step to sharing and experiences directly between O&G companies.
