  • 1.  Cemented annulus pressure data - help needed

    Posted 04-27-2016 04:00 AM

    Dear SPE Community

I am conducting some research on cemented annulus sustained pressure behaviours.

Is there anyone out there who can share some recorded data with me?  I am desperately looking for good quality digital data recordings of draw-down and PBU events, preferably recorded continuously over days or many hours, and possibly covering repeat PBU events. Typically 5-minute record rates are ideal, faster or slower is also fine, but anything slower than every 15 minutes is unlikely to be useful.

I need to know nothing more about the data provenance than whether it came from a fully cemented or a partially cemented annulus. Even without that info, the data would still be useful! This data is not for publication, it is for my personal research.

All offers will be much appreciated.

    Best regards

    Chris

A great research topic Chris and interestingly there has been little study done in this area but lots of fix it when it breaks data should be out there.  There are the incidents like the Lusi Mud Volcano in Indonesia and the Montara Timor Sea Australia and Macondo Gulf of Mexico Blowouts which would help emphasize the importance of understanding annulus pressures from migrating gas.

Interestingly ssubsea wells have little capability to know what is occurring except through cased hole logging, including temperature data that shows there are fluid migrations and flows in the annulus.  I may have some information that can assist partially to demonstrate the issues the industry is going to have to address in this area.  Condition monitoring of well systems from design, construction, production and decommissioning is a theme for the future and its all about what is happening in the annulus.
