  • 1.  X-mas tree valve integrity

    Gas well is equipped with X-mas tree wing valve of FF 10K Temperature classification U rated. Maximum flowing wellhead temperature was observed ~ 270-275 degF, which is bit higher than U temperature class (250 degF). During pressure testing, found valve not holding pressure.

    How  differential thermal expansion due to temperature changes could have any effect on X-mas tree valves to leak.

    X-mas tree temperature classification is P+U (250 degF max). what element in valves is limiting factor to 250 degF for P+U temp classification? since valves stem, hanger, gate & body is made of Stainless steel.
