๐), developed in the 1990s for classifying solid fuels and mineral resources, evolved into UNFC 2009 for fossil energy and minerals. In 2014, the International Geothermal Association (IGA) and UNECE adapted it for geothermal resources, leading to the UNFC Geothermal Specifications. In 2019, these were translated into Spanish by Germany's Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) to support geothermal reporting in Central America through the โYacimientos IIโ project. In 2020, a training course by BGR and IGA engaged SICAโs Geoscientific Technical Group, enabling CostaRica and ElSalvador to pilot the classification in geothermal projects. By 2023, SICA's Energy Ministers Council endorsed UNFC as the regionโs geothermal reporting standard. This talk focuses on its application in El Salvador
