Helen is the Global R&D Manager and the Regional Manager, Africa for the International Geothermal Association, and the Technical Program Chair for the World Geothermal Congress 2026. She has over 10 yearsβ experience working on geothermal projects around the world, focusing mainly on the African continent. Technically trained as a hydrogeologist, Helen has gained knowledge and experience in aspects of reservoir fluid and resource characterization, long-term environmental monitoring, and groundwater impacts and management. She also works closely with rural communities to understand localized resources, community uses, and the challenges they are faced with as geothermal development expands and encroaches on tribal lands. Helen also has experience working on repurposing oil and gas produced waters data for geothermal, sustainable water practices in mining, and extensive experience in humanitarian water of conflict regions. Alongside her role with the International Geothermal Association, she consults for several clients on energy, environment, and water projects.
