Event Report - May 2012

Dear SPE Section 104 members,

It's my pleasure to communicate with you once again via this medium . Today , 31 st May 2012, the Board of Section 104, YP members and students fr om PTI, Novena University , Delta State University Oleh campus and FUPRE ( Federal U niversity of Technology and Petroleum Resources , Ugbomro) paid a visit to W arri R efining & P etrochemical C ompany (WRPC) , E k pan. In attendance were 13 board / professional members and 20 students. The representative of the Section E xecutive had a wonderful meeting with the MD and M anagement of WRPC. A forum was also arranged for us to be briefed about the activities of the company and on our side we also provided a brief of our mission and the need to increase our membership strength in the WRPC. A number of WRPC staff picked the membership form in line with our expectation . Thereafter, we had an excursion to the control room and toured the plant.

As a Board , we are pleased with the execution of this programme which is in line with the No. 1 & 2 of our 5-point agenda (refere nce earlier communication) . We must give kudos to our members in WRPC (Bruce, Muse-Ariyoh, Sansi, Madam Hilda and Mrs. Muse -Ariyoh) for the wonderful co-ordination. We are also pleased with the excellent reception given to us by the Management of WRPC. While by our tradition we presented some SPE souvenirs to the Management, the WRPC M anagement was quick to retaliate . A good lunch was given to cap the visit . Thanks to the those that made it happen. We are hopeful that the WRPC will give positive consideration to our request for sponsorship of some of our activities.

I want to thank all that participated for the sacrifice of time. There wer e others who really wanted to be there but were unavoidably ab sent. I am sure they will be available for other courtesy visit s to more Companies and institution within Section 104.

The P rogramme C hair , Kefe will be leading a team to a n orphanage home tomorrow, 1 st June 2012 as part of our social service . Your SPE Section 104 is on the move.
