This committee is charged with selecting recipients for 3 international awards:

DeGolyer Distinguished Service Medal recognizes distinguished service to SPE, the profession of engineering and geology, and to the petroleum industry.

Charles F. Rand Memorial Gold Medal recognizes distinguished achievement in petroleum administration

Robert Earll McConnell Award recognizes beneficial service to mankind by engineers through significant contributions that advance a nation’s standard of living or replenish its natural resource base.

Tasks:

  • Committee will review candidates nominated by the membership
  • Committee will hold up to 3 ballots for each award
  • Committee will deliberate together to select recipients

Eligibility:

  • Current SPE Professional Member
  • Expertise in the area recognized by the awards

Time Commitment:

  • 3 year term, completion at ATCE
  • Annual online review of candidates
  • Committee is active between February and May
  • Members participate in several teleconferences during the active period
NOTE: Committee members are ineligible for these awards during their term of service and for 2 years afterward.
