The role of a Program Committee member is to develop the technical program for the conference. Committee responsibilities include:
- Establish the program goals and determine the key areas/categories for sessions
- Define the categories to be listed in the Call for Papers
- Direct the paper solicitation effort to include:
- Recommending the SPE technical interests for the development of the marketing efforts
- Providing direct contacts to operating companies, government agencies, service & supply firms, & universities
- Personally soliciting submissions
- Monitoring abstract submissions via the online system during the submission period
- Review, rate and select papers for the conference program
- Build technical sessions via the online system
- Select and invite keynote and/or plenary session speakers & panelists (invited speakers)
- Develop and submit keynote and/or plenary session information to include
- Session Title
- Session Description
- Session Speakers (names and full contact information)
- Serve as, or select appropriate persons to serve as, session chairpersons during the conference
Session Chairperson Role and Responsibilities:
The session chairpersons will support SPE staff with communications to the authors/speakers regarding manuscript deadlines, presentation materials, maintaining the no-commercialism policy of all materials, and withdrawals or other changes to the program. It is the session chairperson’s responsibility to monitor the progress of the manuscripts in his/her session and to ensure a meaningful discussion of the papers on site.

As a member of the SPE/ICoTA Well Intervention Conference & Exhibition Program Committee, please understand that your volunteer work will involve access to information that is considered confidential. Any information obtained during the abstract review, rating and selection period will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
It is your responsibility to respect the confidentiality of all authors and their information, to follow SPE procedures and to act in a professional manner at all times in order to maintain high professional standards of the committee and integrity of SPE & ICoTA.
Commitment
The Committee will meet 4 to 6 times throughout the year. This may be by teleconference, virtual meetings, or even face-to-face meetings. In order to maintain history and allow for new volunteers the opportunity to participate term limits are placed on committee service. Term limit is 3 years.
