Student chapter awards recognize those that go above and beyond to fulfill SPE’s mission by serving local members. The awards honor exemplary efforts in the categories of technical dissemination and professional development, community involvement, and member recognition and appreciation.
Student chapters excelling within their super region receive the Regional Outstanding Student Chapter award. These top student chapters advance to the Presidential round for consideration for the Presidential Award for Outstanding Student Chapter. The Presidential Award for Outstanding Student Chapter recognizes up-to-the top 10 percent of applications received, per award category, per size range. The Presidential Awards are presented at the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition.
Judging will be completed in three rounds, but this committee will complete the first two. The final round is completed by a separate, standing committee. This committee reviews the following rounds:
Round 1: Regional
Student chapters compete against other chapters in their super region. Judges are sourced from the League of Volunteers. Chapters excelling within their super region receive the Regional Outstanding Student Chapter Award. These top chapters advance to the Presidential round.
Round 2: Presidential
Chapters compete against all other chapters within their size group and application category. It is not region-based. The top-ranking chapters advance to the final Presidential round.
You will be asked to read and score a number of reports. The total time commitment is estimated to be 20 hours.
