Africa Region (non-Nigerian teams) PetroBowl Regional Qualifier 2023


This contest is open to all non-Nigerian SPE Student Chapter Teams. The top two teams will be selected as part of the 5 Africa region qualifiers who go through to the PetroBowl Championship. This program is a physical event as part of the Students Technical Symposium & Exhibition (STSE 2023), Ghana. Nigerian Chapters will participate in their own regional selection process.

Volunteer Sign Up 

The Ghana Section are currently looking for volunteers who will be able to participate at the Students Technical Symposium & Exhibition (STSE 2023), Accra, Ghana taking place on the 8-10 May 2023.

Roles include:

Judges (5-10 people): Judges are needed to adjudicate on the responses given by students participating in the contest. Judges will determine question if questions are correct or incorrect, and enforce the rules of the contest.

Skills required: Several years of industry experience and application, ideally with a broad understanding of different technical disciplines.

Moderators (2-5 people): Moderators will be the master of ceremonies, instructing teams on when to act, and read questions.

Skills required: Confident speaking abilities and good communication skills.

Timekeepers / Scorekeepers (5-10 people): Time keepers and score keepers will be tasked to monitor the progress of the game. They will review the scores and ensure all players are acting to time, and announcing the start and close of the contest.

Skills required: Good attention to detail, good communication skills

Tech Operators: Tech operators will be tasked to ensure the AV, buzzer kits and software (where required) are set up appropriately for the running for the game.

Skills required: Confident with AV Set up, good communication skills
