SPE ADIPEC Virtual University Programme Committee

Description

This programme is for the benefit of the best undergraduate geosciences and engineering students from across the Middle East and North Africa Region. The purpose of this programme is to give students clear insight into the industry that they are about to join; to allow them to return to go back to their peers with a positive message; and to provide opportunities for students to form new friendships and to work together on joint virtual activities.

The Virtual Programme will allow students to participate in a number of virtual speaker sessions, virtual tours and networking.  There will also be a competition component in which the top teams will be selected to create a video presentation based on a provided Project Brief.  These teams will have a chance to present their ideas to a panel of qualified professionals for a chance to win top team in the region.  This is a 2-day programme that will take place from 14 - 15 November; each day will be approximately 3 to 4 hours of interactive virtual programming.  

The Committee’s role is to provide support and produce a program for the university students including inviting speakers from oil and gas producing companies, service companies or others.  Committee members may also serve as speakers or moderators where they see fit.  They may also be involved in student selection and online judging.

Eligibility

• SPE member
• Personal interest in developing university students and programming/sessions to enhance professional skills
• Effective communicator

Expectations

• Be available for 2-3 Virtual Committee Meetings
• Be responsive in a timely manner over email
• Be able to work in a team environment with the whole of the committee and sub-committees within
• Validate and shape program goals and objectives for the participating students
• Select the students based on the applications collected and received by SPE Support Staff
• Develop the Group Assignments/Projects the students will undertake during the program, including selecting an overall theme
• Nominate Young Professionals and Speakers where necessary
• Solicit sponsorship for the University Program
• Be available online for part or all of the SPE ADIPEC Virtual University Programme, unless arranged otherwise
