About the Volunteer Opportunity
This opportunity is only for members planning to attend SPE’s 2026 ATCE in person.  SPE does not provide registration or discounts to volunteers.

The volunteers for the Startup Village Energy Competition would assist the committee and SPE staff with the coordination of the competition on Thursday, 22 October 2026, at ATCE in Houston, Texas, USA. The competition will occur from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM (US CDT) and the Award Ceremony and Reception will occur from 4:00 PM-5:00 PM (CDT). https://www.atce.org/special-events/startup-village

This Energy Startup Competition is a partnership between SPE and the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship at Rice University. Launched in 2017, the Energy Startup Competition is a fast-paced competition showcasing emerging energy technology companies.

Competitors will receive visibility among leaders in the upstream energy industry, recognition as technology leaders, the opportunity for cash prizes, networking with leading energy investors, and mentoring.

Qualifications and Experience

• People person
• Organized 
• Willing to stand or be active for 2 hours
• Added perk - an interest in startups

Expected Time Commitment

• One 2-hour shift on 22 October 2026 either at the Competition and/or the Award Ceremony
• Encouraged to attend the Awards Ceremony later in the day, if your volunteer time is not at the Awards Ceremony.
