Kharkiv Student Chapter

The Kharkiv SPE Students' Chapter was established in June 2018 at the Department of Oil, Gas and Condensate Production of NTU “KhPI”. The initiator of the chapter was Mykhailo Bratakh, who served as Faculty Advisor for the first two years. Since 2020, this role has been fulfilled by Serhii Levoniuk, who guides students in their professional development and active participation in the international oil and gas community.

Chapter actively promotes the integration of students into the industry by providing access to leading software through its cooperation with Schlumberger. Among the licensed tools available to students are Techlog, Petrel, Eclipse, PetroMod and PipeSim.

One of the key activities is the exchange of knowledge and professional growth of students through the organization of numerous online lectures. Among the invited lecturers are leading Ukrainian and international experts, such as Oleg Tolmachev, Irina Petrovskaya-Marciano, Natalia Rudevich, Essam Elnaggar, Vitaliy Syniehubka, Vitaliy Reprintsev, Oleksandr Shteplyak, Maria Gizun, Shauna Oppert, Vladimir Laukhin, Vladimir Biletsky, and Geoffray Musial. The lectures cover a wide range of topics related to current challenges and opportunities in the oil and gas industry, innovative technologies, career development and international cooperation.

The chapter officers actively participate in prestigious international conferences, including the 6th International Fuel Congress “New Technologies - Clean Energy” (Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine), 2024 AAPG Europe Regional Conference (Krakow, Poland) and SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) 2024 (New Orleans, USA).

In the fall of 2024, Kharkiv SPE Students' Chapter received the Recognition Award from the European and Ukrainian SPE for its active work. Through its work, the chapter continues to strengthen its credibility, contributing to the professional development of students, their integration into the international oil and gas community and the development of the industry in Ukraine.
