  • Team Suriname qualified for PetroBowl finals !!!

    ​For the 1st time ever a Suriname team (Anton de Kom University student chapter) participated in the PetroBowl regional qualifiers. The event was held on June 24, prior to the SPETT Energy Conference in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Suriname finished 5th place by defeating the Bolivian team of EMI (Escuela Militar de Ingeniería )in round 3.
    In the 1st round team Suriname defeated team UTT (University of Trinidad & Tobagao) and lost in the 2nd round to UNI (Universidad Nacional de Ingeneria of Peru). The best two losing tams of the 2nd round competed for the 5th and last qualification spot. 
    For the 3rd consecutive time in a row the South American & Caribbean regional qualifiers was won  by UFRJ (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) of Brasil, who defeated UWI (University of West Indies) of Trinidad & Tobago in the finals.
    UNI finished 3d and UNICAMP (Universidade Estadual de Campinas) of Brasil was 4th.

    Arantxa Lieveld, Kimberly Calli (both BSc student Mineral Science) and Shahied Kadir (BSc student Mechanical Engineering).
