He has worked for several major operators such as Shell, Maersk Oil, TotalEnergies and now PETRONAS where he is the Subject Matter Expert for well abandonment. He has a passion for new technology and has spent several years driving operator technology roadmaps that have delivered a number of innovations now widely implemented across the industry.

Bart Joppe is the Well Abandonment Director for Baker Hughes, based in Houston, Texas. With 28 years at Baker Hughes, he has held operational, technical sales, and business development roles across Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and the United States, with deep expertise in Well Intervention and Well Abandonment. He has been a facilitator for Baker Hughes & SPE Well Abandonment training courses and holds a bachelor’s degree from the Institute for Petroleum and Gas Technology Noorder Haaks in Den Helder, the Netherlands.

Waqas Munir brings over 19 years of international experience spanning operations, sales, and well intervention, with a track record across the Americas, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. A subject matter expert in well intervention and abandonment, he is known for leading growth initiatives, shaping strategy, and delivering operational excellence. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum and Gas Engineering.

Marcelo Matos holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a MSc degree in Decommissioning from the University of Aberdeen. He joined Petrobras in 2008 as Equipment Engineer and became a specialist in Petroleum Engineering in 2011. With a background as company man supervising offshore operations and as P&A Design Engineer, he has been P&A Advisor for Offshore Wells at Petrobras for 8+ years and was responsible for coordinating the latest review of the Brazilian Industry Well Abandonment Guidelines.

Mark James has over 20 years’ experience providing primary, remedial, and abandonment cementing support across Service Company and Operator roles. He has broad experience covering land (conventional and unconventional), shallow and deepwater operations. He also has an interest in, and has supported projects for, development of real time job execution monitoring tools.

Adrin Shafil Bin Ahmad Nasir is the Country Manager for Malaysia & General Manager for Well-Safe Solutions in the Asia Pacific region, overseeing the company’s strategic growth and delivery of integrated well decommissioning, full well life cycle and energy transition solutions across Asia Pacific. Bringing in a strong blend of operator and service provider expertise, Adrin held key positions as COO (drilling rig and HWU contractor) at Velesto Energy Berhad, and led technical teams with PETRONAS and other operators such as BHP Billiton, INPEX, Petrofac, Nippon Oil and Exxonmobil. He is passionate on the topic of P&A design, and provides views for field informed insight into P&A best practices, regulatory alignment and cost-efficient execution. His view of the SPE is that is the best vehicle for driving collaboration, and over the years he has actively taken roles as keynote and industry speaker, panel member, technical paper presenter, and event committee member.

He has made a significant contribution to advancing well integrity and P&A practices, including industry initiatives on competency development, well barrier verification, and decommissioning.
