The city of Aachen is a famous health resort located in a geographically and geologically unique place. It was built around geothermal springs, which are supplied by heated meteoric water that found its way through the complex geological structure of the subsurface. During this comprehensive geological city excursion participants will learn about tectonics, structural geology, energy resources, building stones, historic architecture, geothermal drilling, geothermal energy, hydrology, curative ground waters and the dramatic history and development of Bad Aachen, Oche, Aix-la-Chapelle, Aquae Granni, Aken or Ахен. A brand-new mobile app will be provided to support the participants while exploring the geological and historical highlights of the city.

This event is open for all participants of the STC 2019 in Aachen (duration minimum 3 hours, comfortable footwear and umbrella are advised, android smartphone or apple iPhone required to download the mobile app).

For retirees the same price is applicable as for students.
