How many people can say they love their job? If you love your job your challenges come easier. If you work well with others you can accomplish more. If you listen and learn you will grow. If you treat others with respect you will be respected by those that matter. I have had the unique opportunity at the Society of Petroleum Engineers to experience all of the above in my position as Program Specialist in the SPE Member Programs and Services Department.
As the SPE eMentoring Program Specialist, I launched a new and robust eMentoring platform in 2015, that matches experienced Oil and Gas SPE members with young professionals and students to help them with career and academic guidance. Young professionals can also act as mentors to university students. Mentees benefit by learning from a mentors experience, industry trends and recommendation for additional training and education. Mentors also help mentees define and accomplish their goals.
With a variety of other responsibilities such as planning SPE Foundation activities and processing donations to the Foundation there is never a dull moment. In addition, I assist members with questions and issues regarding their benefits as well as taking on special projects for the Director of Member, Programs and Services.
