2024 Scholarship Awards Announced

 
The SPE Fort Worth Section is pleased to announce the 2024 Scholarship Award Recipients. 

Jakob Harrigan

Jakob Harrigan is a Petroleum Engineering student at the University of Oklahoma where he is finishing his sophomore year with a 4.0 GPA and expected graduation date of May 2026. He is on both the President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll and is active in the student chapters of the SPE (Assistant Golf Tournament Director), AADE (2024-25 Vice President), and SPWLA. When he is not competing with the Sooner Racing Team (a student team that competes internationally in the design, manufacture, and racing of small formula-style race cars), he enjoys playing the drums, fishing, pickleball, and cooking. 

Jakob spent his winter break with Gore Nitrogen on a slickwater crew, and he will complete an internship with them this summer. He is already planning a carbon sequestration research project next school year, and he has several drilling internships opportunities lined up for next summer.  

 

Uriel Vazquez, Jr


Uriel Vazquez Jr is graduating from Arlington College and Career High School with a 3.75 GPA as well as an Associate's degree from Tarrant County College. From Arlington, Texas, he is a first-generation graduate from his family, He will be attending the University of Texas at Arlington where he will pursue a degree in Civil Engineering.  

Uriel has many interests and enjoys being a mechanic, working on his truck, doing landscaping, and further expanding his education in engineering. He hopes his interest in the Civil Engineering field will help him in planning and installing land-based oil and gas rigs. His dream is to further his education and continue and grow as a person to find new paths along the way.

Luke Peacock

Luke Peacock is a member of the National Honor Society at Haskell High School with a 3.98 GPA and where he received both Citizenship and Outstanding Academics awards. He has been very active in the FFA where he has won numerous awards both locally and at the state level. An athlete in multiple sports, he competes in football, track, and powerlifting. Luke is also active in serving the community through his work with his church, community food bank, and a local Child Welfare Board. 

Luke will be attending Tarleton State University where he will study Mechanical Engineering.  In pursuing this career, he will be a third-generation worker in his family in the Oil and Gas Industry, and he is excited to continue a career that he feels he is already connected with.

  • Mason Matthews (Carroll, TX). Mason is pursuing a degree in Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas Cockrell School of Engineering (Class of '27).
  • Sam Norwood (Ponder, TX). Sam is a PE major at Texas A&M University (Class of '25).
  • Eli Peacock (Haskell, TX). Eli is a PE major at Tarleton State (Class of '27).

2022

  • Ashton Morrow (Burleson, TX). Ashton is an Engineering major at Tarleton State (Class of '26)
  • Blake Sutherland (Bridgeport, TX). Blake attends Texas A&M University. He will be graduating with an Engineering degree in the Fall of 2025.
  • Mason Hodge (Keller, TX). Blake is a Petroleum Engineering major at LSU (Class of '24)

2021

  • Pierce Miller (Fort Worth, TX). Pierce majored in Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University and graduated Fall ’23 with a Minor in Mathematics.
  • Sarah Qureshi (Lubbock, TX). Sarah is Petroleum Engineering major at Texas Tech University class of ‘24.

2020

  • Isabella Diaz (Fort Worth, TX). Isabella is a student at Texas A&M University class of '24 majoring in Petroleum Engineering
  • Ashlynn Tutter (Brock, TX). Ashlynn is a student at Texas A&M University class of '24 majoring in Ocean Engineering
