Talk Highlights
This talk highlights the two main responsibilities of HSED, which are protection of life and protection of the environment. The care and protection of life is a sacred duty. This includes all ADCO personal and their families, contractors who work on ADCO projects and extends in to the care of the communities where ADCO operates. This talk will highlight how ADCO goes about its care and protection of the people and environment and will illustrate this work by local case studies on Transportation, H2S, and Wildlife . The talks is about
ADCO’s commitment and duty aspects of HSE for personnel and environmental protection as a major part of the company’s working philosophy.

Speaker Bio

Stephen James studied Geography at the University of Hull, UK and Environmental Management at Imperial College London. For 30 years Stephen was in the field of education; from 1999 – 2008 as a lecturer at Zayed University, Abu Dhabi. His present position, is that of Senior Environmental Advisor for Biodiversity and Conservation in ADCO.

Stephen is a member of the Emirates Natural History Group. Holding several official positions including those of Deputy Chairman and Chairman. In 1997 he was the recipient of the Bish Brown Award for conservation in the UAE. He is still involved with this group today. He is well known for his work on birds of the UAE and is a past member of the Emirates Rare Birds Committee and is only one of two people, to see over 400 species of bird in this country. He has published many scientific papers on birds both in the Middle East and in southern Africa.
