ABSTRACT: For nearly a decade, DuPont has partnered with stake holders in the Oil industry to perform extensive fundamental research into the application of Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR) technology for water flooded reservoirs. The research team found that in order to ensure consistent results across the diverse environments of every unique reservoir, isolation and inoculation of functional microbes under optimal nutrient conditions was critical to consistent field success. This presentation will review the mechanisms examined, how our ongoing research has provided many insights into the appropriate application of microbial EOR, and present field data.

 

 

 
BIOGRAPHY: Scott Jackson has worked for DuPont for nearly 30 years in a diverse number of fields and businesses. He has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, an MS and PhD in same from the University of Delaware. For the last 8 years, Scott has been the technical team leader for the Microbial EOR research program targeting the development of new technologies and deployments of microbes in the oil and gas space. In this role, Scott has led a diverse team of microbiologists, molecular biologists, chemists and engineers and worked closely with oil and gas stakeholders in the development DuPont MATRx™ EOR technologies. His technical experience in very diverse fields gives him a unique perspective on many technologically important issues.
