SPE BAGHDAD SECTION & SCHLUMBERGER COOPERATION

Schlumberger believes in cooperation and development of the local community to increase the employability of engineers and the development of technicians, engineers and academics. The vision of SPE Baghdad Section and Schlumberger met and they offered the training course at no cost (for free) in partnership with our Section to support our voluntary activities in serving oil & Gas industry in Iraq, Schlumberger will offer the Instructors, Techlog software licenses to the participants, and participants training certificates at no cost.

 COURSE DESCRIPTION
Study of the rock properties by petrophysical techniques using electrical, nuclear and acoustic sources is an important procedure for Petroleum Engineers and Geologists to evaluate formation and reservoir properties.
The intent of this course is to provide a foundation of knowledge which can be built upon later (as well log analysis requires plenty of real-life experience). The course will introduce the basic petrophysical properties of common reservoir rocks and then introduce the various logging tools which enable their measurement. Further, conventional log interpretation techniques for the most common reservoir scenarios are introduced.
COURSE OUTCOMES
  • Understand the fundamentals and explanations for conventional well log method.
  • Determine lithology, porosity, and fluid saturation from logs.
  • Know the interpretive techniques using logs individually and in combination.
  • Develop a better understanding of why so many logs are necessary for the proper evaluation of a formation, and which ones are preferred under specific circumstances.
  • Understand the Techlog interface and data structure.
  • Enhance data management and quality control.
  • Use basic plotting tools.
  • Use the Quanti Quick Look for Quick Look log analysis.
  • Create workflows for multiwell deterministic evaluation using Quanti.
  • Computing Petrophysical Summaries and generating.
  • Summaries report.
TARGETED GROUPS

Petroleum engineers in all oil companies, graduates of petroleum engineering, academics in petroleum engineering colleges, recently graduated petroleum engineers, researchers in the field of petroleum engineering, fuel and energy engineers, academic and graduates of geology, geophysics, oil training institute graduates and other related disciplines.

COURSE REGISTRATION FEES

As SPE Baghdad Section works voluntarily to serve the Iraqi Petroleum engineer and oil industry in Iraq and for the purpose of covering the logistics fees of organizing the course such as reserving the training hall, Coffee break and other logistical needs to host the trainees in the best possible training environment, our Section will quote a symbolic amount of fees from each participant to cover the above expenses and as follows:

- 40,000 IQD only per participant for SPE members.
- 60,000 IQD only per participant for non-SPE members.
- For those wishing to join SPE Baghdad Section and obtain a universal membership and a global certificate of membership and ID Card as well as take advantage of all Symposiums, conferences and international courses organized by our section and available discounts they will be treated as SPE members in quoting fees  (the total amount is 75,000 IQD, including membership for a year (25 USD) and participation fees for the course (40,000 IQD).
