About the Committee
The Women in Energy Committee (WIN) promotes gender diversity in E&P and creates opportunities for women to enable them to step into leadership roles and pursue their career goals.
The committee currently comprises 4 members. Members are appointed for one-year terms, It can be extended according to the volunteer's activity.
Qualifications and Experience
1- Hold SPE Professional Membership in Baghdad Section (If you don't have, you can apply also but you have to meet this condition after being selected)
2- Minimum BSs Degree in Oil and Gas related major.
3- Have a good English language.
4- Should have a demonstrated interest in promoting women in leadership roles and encouraging young women to study engineering through the section and chapters and should be.
VOLUNTEERS ADVANTAGES
1. Hold a position within the SPE Baghdad Section.
2. The priority or free registration in any training opportunities provided by the section.
3. Creating networking opportunities and building relationships with International Oil Companies, Universities, and National Oil Companies.
4. Certificate of Recognition in the position.

WIN ORGANIZATION AND POSITIONS
VOLUNTEER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
WIN Chair
- Responsible for maintaining the reporting relationship between the local WIN committee and the global SPE WIN Standing Committee.
- Responsible for sharing programming information for the global SPE WIN Standing Committee for possible sharing on the global WIN Social Media platform(s).
- Responsible for the overall governance of the local WIN committee.
- Accountable for managing relationships amongst stakeholders.
- Responsible for submitting proposals to add or remove committee members to the Section Board of Directors or his representative for the purpose of deciding on the issue based on local community needs.
- Accountable for documenting lessons learned from their local section and sharing those with the global SPE WIN Standing Committee.
STEM Lead
The STEM Lead is responsible for creating and supporting programming that will attract women to the (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)field. Key focus areas include:
- Targeting female students and attracting them to STEM by conducting workshops, seminars, and field trips.
- Mentoring young females interested or already pursuing studies in the STEM field.
- Responsible for understanding and implementing (if interested) the A Day in the Life of an Engineer Program as shared by the global SPE WIN Standing Committee
Event Programming Lead
- Responsible for identifying, defining, planning, and executing WIN section programming throughout the year.
- Responsible for supporting other volunteers that help with the annual event programming schedule.
Communications and Social Media Lead
- Continuous communication with universities, companies, and any party that can be coordinate with in order to establish activities for women.
- Responsible for leveraging existing SPE social media accounts to advertise upcoming local WIN activities.
- Responsible for defining and executing regular updates to the local SPE social media accounts that help to promote the vision and mission of SPE WIN.
- Responsible for encouraging local SPE members to apply for the Emerging Leader’s Alliance Program (ELA).
