ABSTRACT

Cloud Computing is the internet-based enabler for sharing of technological infrastructural resources, software and digital content, allowing them (Infrastructure, Platforms, Software) to be offered on pay-for-use basis, like any utility service.
As oil and gas industry moved to a more digital and agile environment the demands on IT infrastructure are rapidly increasing – and the ability of the infrastructure to adapt and respond becomes more critical. Performance is essential, and companies are looking for flexible solutions that can quickly respond to dynamic usage patterns, but with reduced financial burden by having an unlimited power resources This allows oil and gas companies to analyse a wealth of data at reduced cost.
In oil and gas Cloud computing are being used in different ways form Private, Hosted and Public cloud applications, and it varies from hosting light applications like emails and high resource demanding applications like Petrotechnical till having National Data Repository on cloud.
Nartional Data Repositories (NDR) are solutions which deliver several tangible benefits to the operating countries. They have been specifically architected to enable an active, dynamic center where data lives; a hub that gathers, organizes, quality controls, and stores data. In addition, Protection and quality assurance of the nation’s sub-surface assets. NDRs are also tools to promote investment in the petroleum industry through an expanded set of services that assure transparency, and finally, it is considered to be a means of facilitating and managing interactions between oil producers and a country’s government.
During our presentation we will discover the technologies that enable cloud computing and NDRs in the O&G sector.
