The History of the SPE Egyptian Section
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Egyptian Section, located in Cairo, Egypt, has a rich history that dates back to the mid-20th century. This section is part of the global SPE organization, which was officially founded as a constituent society of the American Institute of Mining Engineers (AIME) in 1957.
Establishment
The SPE Egyptian Section was established on April 26, 1976. Since its inception, the section has been dedicated to advancing the knowledge and skills of professionals in the petroleum industry in Egypt. Through its various initiatives and programs, it provides a platform for professionals to share knowledge, network, and contribute to the growth of the business.
Awards and Recognition
The SPE Egyptian Section has been recognized for its excellence in serving its members and contributing to the petroleum industry. Most recently, it received the Section Excellence Award in 2023.
Young Professionals Initiative
In response to the SPE Young Professionals’ initiative, the SPE Egypt Section established the Egyptian Young Engineers Professional Program (YEPP). This program aims to support young petroleum professionals in Egypt and help them develop their careers.
