Just prior to this year’s ATCE, the remaining six volumes of the Petroleum Engineering Handbook (PEH) were incorporated into PetroWiki. During its first year, PetroWiki was in the pilot phase and only included one volume, drilling and completions. Member response after the site’s debut at ATCE 2012 was very positive, and activity from January through mid-September 2013 averaged nearly 1,100 visitors per day.
Since ATCE 2013 just three weeks ago, usage has climbed to more than 3,300 visitors per day and is expected to continue this upward trend. The next challenge is to encourage members to update content, most of which was written in 2001-2002. Glenda Smith, director innovation, strategy and analytics and PetroWiki Manager Denise Watts will work with a number of technical sections and committees to update content, as well as promote the site to all members.
