In the past, SPE Lagos, through the community department, has supported numerous charitable causes and made a positive impacts on the immediate community (Lagos) including awarding scholarships for vocational training to the physically handicapped, donations to orphanages and hospices, numerous (free) public health screenings, skills acquisition training fairs etc.
This board year, 2016/17, SPE Lagos has challenged itself to surpass the impact we have made over the years. To mention a few, the section intends to provide clean water to a community of need, make donations to orphanages that don't usually get coverage, give more scholarships, and clean up an area in Lagos.
In order to accomplish the aforementioned and more, we will need funds. As one of the initiatives to raise funds, we've come up with the idea to have a yard sale. This yard sale will be mutually beneficial to the community department and you as a member. We would help you get rid of items taking up valuable space in your home and in turn use the proceeds from the sale to give back to the community.
The donations can include, but are not limited to:
1) Clothes taking up space in your closet. Let's help you make space for new ones.
2) Clothing accessories – shoes, bags, jewelries
3) Kids clothes and toys
4) Wedding gifts/souvenirs
5) Home appliances, electronics, electrical appliances, furniture, kitchen items, etc that you're not going to use or you don't need anymore
Items may be new/unused, fairly used, as long as they are in good working condition.
All the proceeds from the sale will go into funding community projects through the SPE launched initiative called SPE Cares (an SPE Community Service initiative, aimed at promoting, supporting and participating in charitable, education, humanitarian and social community services). Unsold items will be donated to the under/less privileged.
