  • Dear Chapters' officers and fellow students,

We hope this message finds you well. Our chapter (SPE Cairo University Student Chapter - SPE CUSC) is the first chapter in Egypt as it was founded in 1987. Since then, the chapter was dedicated to serving the vision and mission of SPE international through creating activities, events and projects that enhance the technical and non-technical skills of our members.

As we are heading towards the end of our 2013/2014 season and as a sort of sharing experience for the better performance of all SPE student chapters, we'd like to share with you the major achievements that we made through the previous season and we'll start by the first event: "Power Up Conference".

SPE CUSC created "Power Up" as the first ever national conference fully created and organized by a student chapter in Egypt. It lasted for two days (the 7th and 8th of February, 2014) at Cataract Pyramids Resort; academically sponsored and certified by the leading petroleum company "Shell Egypt".
  •
  •    "Power Up" was also sponsored by "Modern Bakeries" (a major catering sponsor in Egypt) and it received huge media coverage from several online media channels like: "www.youm7.com (youm7 has more than 4.5 million likes on Facebook).
  •
  •    It wasn't only for Petroleum engineers and geophysicist as it included both technical and non-technical sessions provided with professional trainers and instructors from leading companies (Shell / BritishPetroleum / Midor / Vodafone).
  •
  •    Sessions included topics like:
    • The practice of Reservoir Engineering presented- Eng. Othmaan Enayet - Reservoir Engineer "bp Egypt"
    • Principles of HSE Management System- Mr/Abdulmajid Alhouri - HSE Manager "Shell Egypt"
    • Technical Innovation and Leadership- Eng. Shamir Salahudin - Technical Manager "Shell Egypt"
    • CV writing and Interviewing Skills- Ms. Noha Elyousfi - HR Analyst "Shell Egypt"
    • Entrepreneurship (Intilaqah)- Mr. Ahmed Elgabry -Social Investment Manager "Shell Egypt"
    • Mindset shaping, Career Orientation, and Marketing & Sales

There was a game "Who Wants to be an Oilnaire?" which was full of motivation, fun, and excitement, and the winners were gifted from Shell.

More than 200 SPE members participated in this conference and found it really beneficial. The attendees were from various SPE chapters in Egypt: SPE CUSC, SPE Suez, SPE BUE, SPE el Azhar and the Future University.
  •
  •   "Power Up" was a true breakthrough and a turning point in the history of SPE CUSC from all aspects: Technical wise, publicity wise, marketing wise, fund-raising wise and eventually, innovation wise.
