As a volunteer, you know that this commitment of time and talent in service to SPE is at the heart of what SPE is and drives all that we are able to accomplish. All the success that SPE celebrates is possible because of you. SPE volunteers lead our local sections and student chapters, select award and scholarship recipients, provide peer feedback on technical papers, choose the best abstracts to be presented at events, and so much more.
We value members, but it is volunteers to whom we owe our success. We know that you all have careers, families, and lives. So, the time that you - and your company and family - have graciously afforded to serve SPE is more appreciated than we can say. But, from all of us, THANK YOU!
And with that, we ask for your help. We need your assistance in showing appreciation to all of our volunteers, as well as to the companies and families supporting them. We encourage you to find a way to honor the volunteers within your own section or student chapter.
If you need some ideas, we suggest you view annual reports stored in the officer community library. These award-winning sections and student chapters share a wealth of wonderful ways they honor volunteers. (Yes – we actually read every single annual report.) One of my favorites is an end of the year banquet that includes a volunteer award ceremony. Honorees are able to invite their employers and families. What a great motivator for future volunteers! If you have any ideas or questions about ways to show appreciation to your volunteers, share and discuss with your fellow officers in the Officer Community in Connect.
