Castro before you choose an offshore platform, there are a lot of factors you must consider:
1. is it an exploratory well you are embarking on?
2. the water depth
3.number of wells that would be drilled or completed
etc.
these are some of those factors you need to consider. for instance, a spar is suitable for production, semi-subs for fairly shallow depth. gravity base for production. so must first consider the kind of job you are contracted to do. exploration, development, production etc. that is my view. hope it would help you .
