SPE Calgary Section - 2014 Scholarships

Hello Students,

This year the Society of Petroleum Engineers Calgary Section (SPECA) will be awarding $80,000 in scholarships to University and college students in the western Canadian region who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents. This year, SPECA will be awarding scholarships to 20 highly qualified students in the amount of $4000 each!

This year’s deadline for applications is December 6, 2013.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Students submitting for scholarships must meet the following requirements:
1. Be enrolled full-time in any diploma or degree program with interest of entering the Petroleum industry (note that programs outside of engineering and masters level programs DO qualify).
2. Be an SPE member at the time of your application. If you are not a member, you can easily register at www.spe.org.
3. Satisfactory academic standing (as determined by the SPE Scholarship Committee)
4. Extra-curricular activities through SPE, university and community or other volunteer work

SUBMISSION FORMAT:

Students submitting for scholarships must follow the SPE Calgary application format:

1. All submissions shall be PDF format, file size no larger than 5 MB consolidated
2. Include a cover letter should be no longer than 350 words and be addressed to Mr. Jarrett Dragani, SPECA Student Scholarships. Cover letter must answer the following:
b) Why do you deserve this scholarship?
c) How would this scholarship benefit you?
d) What are your extra –curricular activities and/or SPE involvements?
3. A copy of your resume
4. A copy of your latest transcripts (unofficial is acceptable)
5. A completed copy of the Scholarship Application Form

*Please note that the quality of your application will be taken into account by an SPE Scholarship Committee. Make sure you have all documents enclosed and that they are clear and readable. Please refrain from submitting additional documents that are not supporting your application directly.
