Title:
The Importance of Shut-In Time in Kick Control: Operational and Safety Implications
Abstract:
Shut-in time is one of the most critical factors in managing formation influxes (kicks) during drilling operations. An effective and prompt shut-in reduces the influx volume, facilitates pressure stabilization, and minimizes operational risks. This article analyzes the impact of shut-in time, its consequences on SIDPP/SICP readings, and the subsequent behavior of the kick in the annulus.
