I was approached today through my LinkedIn account uk.linkedin.com/in/aprimera by student of Petroleum Engineering from London South Bank University. He is due to graduate quite soon in May and of course is keen to get a job ASAP. His approach was very professional and on top of that I am always happy to give a word of advice if ask for, specially to students, as I remember the difficult barrier of getting the first door open.
I have put together few suggestions for him and any other Petroleum Engineering or Geosciences student that is close to graduation and is looking forward to join the Oil and Gas industry:
- Attend the meetings organised by companies and professional societies in the universities. Ambassador Lecturer Programmes are organised by professional societies to give some flavour about the industry to the students. In London, the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Young Professionals YP committee organises a Graduate Skill Assessment to support students.
