Petroleum Administration in the City of Los Angeles
Abstract: The City of Los Angeles has a unique history of urban oil and gas production while sitting above one of the large volumes of petroleum in the world.
Uduak-Joe Ntuk is the new Petroleum Administrator for the City of Los Angeles who will speak at the March 14th meeting of the Los Angeles Society of Petroleum
Engineers Luncheon. Mr. Ntuk oversees the Office of Petroleum and Natural Gas Administration and Safety in the Los Angeles Department of Public Works. His
presentation will provide an overview of petroleum within the second largest city in America, review the history of the Petroleum Administrator function, summarize
his current oversight role and share about upcoming projects.
Uduak-Joe Ntuk is the Petroleum Administrator for the City of Los Angeles. He leads the city’s Office of Petroleum and Natural Gas Administration and Safety,
which advises Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the Los Angeles City Council, and all city departments on petroleum and natural gas policy.
Mr. Ntuk is a technical professional with both public and private sector energy experience. With more than a decade of upstream professional experience in
California, Uduak-Joe has developed both production and reservoir engineering experience within the Los Angeles and Central Valley Basins. Prior to his appointment
in Los Angeles, Mr. Ntuk was a Petroleum Engineering Associate for the City of Long Beach and was an Reservoir and Product Engineer for Chevron North America in the
San Joaquin Valley. He's held several sustainability fellowships with Green for All fellow, Alliance for Climate Protection, and the Institute for Social Innovation
at the London Business School.
Uduak-Joe earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach and his Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering
from the University of Southern California. He serves on the Industry Advisory Board for the Center for Engineering Diversity at the University of Southern California
and as a Personnel Commissioner for the Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD). Uduak-Joe also teaches in the Chemical Engineering Department at California
State University, Long Beach.
